SAAKOT HOUSING TRUST LTD (SAAKOTHT)

SAAKOTHT has been set up under Uganda law to enable SAAKOT to own and manage property. Its trustees are:

• Fredrick Mutengesa
• Charles Kituuka
• Bibian Nankinga

To date SAAKOT has acquired a compound comprising 4 dwellings and 3 garages in Rubaga.3 of the dwelling and 1 of the garage are used to house orphans and is in the process of acquiring further land.

EDUCATION PROGRAM.

The education program focuses on:

•  School fees sponsorship to orphans and vulnerable children.
• Provision of scholastic materials like books, pens, pencils, toilet papers, school uniforms ,mathematical sets,  rulers etc. to these children

• Counseling and guidance to Hiv/Aid infected and affected children and give them psychological support and treatment.
• Reproductive health education among children.

HEALTH PROGRAM.
The health program focuses on the health care of these children in the following areas:

• Medical/Dental/Vision/Learning
• Preventative health care
• Acute health care
• Chronic health care
• Physiological counseling.

ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM.
SAAKOTHT, SAAKOT has extended financial assistance to young people, or relatives to start up small business like maize milling machines projects, grinding machines project, computers, photocopy and DVD rental projects .Others are given financial assistance to improve property for rental purposes.

Also some of the boys in particular go during the holiday to work on farm associated with SAAKOT, again to every ones benefit, SAAKOT deems it particularly important to buy and build so that indigenous income provides stable school; fees,etc ,in addition to providing local work and accommodation.

Saakot program is more than a program to learn, it is a program to grow, a program to achieve, a program to realize dreams. We are aiming at creating opportunities for children and youth, to develop their talents and acquire skills necessary to enjoy a productive and meaningful life.

Talents development initiative /program:
The Saakot talent development program aims at behavioral change, awareness and community development and transformation through sports. (Teams Saakot).
